Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King has welcomed today’s announcement that Berrybank Wind Farm’s Community Engagement and Benefit Sharing Plan will deliver for communities across Golden Plains.
As part of this program, Berrybank Wind Farms is funding the installation of solar panels on community and council buildings and low-income homes across the region.
“At a time when we are hearing a lot about net-zero and the role of clean energy, today’s grants announcement is an example of the benefits that the move to renewables can have for regional communities like our own”, Ms King said.
“The emergence of a vibrant renewable energy sector in Western Victoria has brought to our region jobs, investment, community sponsorships and new opportunities for locals.
“As we listen to the debate about net-zero, we should reflect on the clear benefits that the changing economy can have for our region.
“Clean energy is good for power prices and it is good for jobs.
“That’s why an Albanese Labor Government has committed to growing the sector.
“I congratulate Berrybank Wind Farm for their funding announcements today. Not only are they cutting emissions, but they are investing back into their local community.
