KING AND ROWLAND – MEDIA RELEASE – BETTER LOCAL LIVING FOR GREENWAY FAMILIES – 9 MARCH 2022

An Albanese Labor Government will improve local living for families across Greenway by investing $12.8m to provide better, safer and more playful local infrastructure.

Our plan for better local living will deliver fresh playgrounds, dog parks, a new community water play area for hot summer days, and better connections into local active transport networks.

These projects, to be delivered in partnership with Blacktown City Council, will also improve playground fencing in response to local community feedback.

Building back better from COVID-19 to improve suburban living is a key priority for Labor.

As a package, our plan to deliver fun, modern, and safe infrastructure will enhance opportunities across Greenway for parents and their children to enjoy more time together outdoors.

The $12.8 million investment would deliver:

• Six new and upgraded play spaces across Schofields, Riverstone and Grantham farm;
• A new and exciting community water play area to be located in Schofields;
• Fencing to make existing play spaces safer in the areas of Parklea, Seven Hills, Lalor Park, Quakers Hill and Kings Langley; and
• District scale walking trails in Grantham Farm, Lalor Park and Quakers Hill to help better connect residents into local active transport networks.

Labor understands that changes to how and where people work, combined with local population growth, means we need to intelligently invest to build the future that families and residents deserve.

Quotes attributable to Michelle Rowland, the Member for Greenway

“As a mother of two young daughters under the age of ten, I understand that parents want to provide the very best opportunities for their children. And that’s what this plan aims to do — provide a better future for local families and residents.”

Quotes attributable to Catherine King, the Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development
“Throughout the pandemic we have seen just how important local living is.

“Labor’s social infrastructure investments are about delivering more liveable local communities, and that is exactly what these projects will do.
