An Albanese Labor Government will invest $15 million to deliver a new aquatic centre at Boyne Tannum.
Currently, locals across Boyne and Tannum only have access to the single, 25 metre public swimming pool. As a growing community of nearly 10,000, you don’t have to spend long here before you see that this is not good enough.
That’s why an Albanese Labor Government will partner with the Gladstone Regional Council to deliver a brand-new aquatic facility, including an Olympic-sized pool along with aquatic play and exercise features for the whole family.
This is the kind of investment that Central Queenslanders can expect from an Albanese Labor Government – delivering greater equity to communities and delivering better infrastructure and facilities for working families.
That includes investments like the new Boyne Tannum Pool as well as already announced promises to upgrade Drynan Drive in Calliope.
Comments attributable to Catherine King, Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development
‘Whether it be kids learning to swim or working families doing the school run, an Albanese Labor Government will invest in the sort of infrastructure that delivers a better life to the people of Central Queensland.
‘For years this community has been crying out for a new aquatic centre. Only an Albanese Labor Government will get on with delivering it.’
Comments attributable to Matt Burnett, Labor Candidate for Flynn
‘I have been working on securing funding for this project for years – only an Albanese Labor Government will partner with our community in delivering it.
‘This facility will be suitable for the whole family – from the kids right through to our seniors.
‘This funding will go to developing a 10-lane Olympic-sized 50 metre pool that includes a bulkhead, as well as a splash pool and a waterslide.
‘I’m proud of my track record of delivering infrastructure, local jobs, and community services for the community of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands
‘With the support of the community and as the Member for Flynn, I will fight every day for the needs of all Central Queenslanders.
‘Whether it be this project or the Drynan Drive Upgrade we’ve already announced, I am determined to advocate for these sorts of projects that will deliver a better life to families across our community.’
