CENTACARE AND THE RSL: SUPPORTING OUR YOUNG VETS
Federal member for Ballarat, Catherine King today welcomed a grant of $66,818.18 to Centacare Ballarat through the federal Supporting Younger Veterans program to establish a sustainable partnership between Centacare and the Ballarat RSL Sub-Branch.
This partnership will identify and support younger veterans in their transition into civilian life.
“This is a wonderful grant that will make a difference in the lives of young veterans as they transition into civilian life”, Ms King said.
“These young men and women have given much in their service to our country, and it is important that they are given the fullest support possible as they transition to civil life”.
“We know that young vets returning home face significant challenges, whether that is in finding work, or dealing with the mental health challenges that come with facing and surviving danger in warzones.”
“Too often these veterans are left to struggle alone, and often they are unable to overcome these challenges alone, with too many facing relationship break down and, tragically, suicide”.
“I look forward to these two strong organisations, the Ballarat RSL and Centacare, build a strong relationship which will support many veterans into the future, helping them to overcome the challenges that come with returning to civilian life.”
