MORE NEW SOCIAL HOMES UNDERWAY IN BALLARAT More people will soon have a place to call homes thanks to a joint investment in new social homes in Ballarat. Member for Ballarat Catherine King and Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison today visited a new social housing development underway in central Ballarat which will provide 24 brand new social homes for people on the Victorian Housing Register. Designed by MGS Architects and built by Figurehead Constructions, the development will include 17 large one-bedroom apartments and 7 two-bedroom units over four levels. Residents will have access to a large, shared courtyard and the modern apartments are energy efficient with a large solar array on the roof to keep down power bills. This project is a proud partnership between the Albanese and Carroll Labor Governments and community housing organisation Uniting Housing (Victoria), which will own the homes and manage the tenancies. The development has been made possible with $9.4 million from the Albanese Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), $13 million investment from Carroll Government and $4.5 million from Uniting Vic Tas including the land. These new homes are expected to be completed in 2026 and opening their doors early in 2027 – with renters moving into homes in the heart of Ballarat, close to services, schools, transport and shops.
