An Albanese Labor Government will bring forward much-needed upgrade works on Bribie Island Road, meaning locals can spend more time at home and less time stuck in traffic.
Working closely with the Queensland Government, an Albanese Labor Government will bring forward Commonwealth funding for this essential local project, meaning work can get underway sooner than under the Morrison-Joyce Government.
This work will see the earlier completion of the Queensland Government’s Bribie Island Road Upgrade Strategy, a plan to upgrade the key transport corridor to provide an unbroken, median-divided four-lane road.
Under the Morrison-Joyce Government’s most recent Budget, these works won’t even begin until 2023/24 at the earliest.
Under Labor, we will bring forward funding to allow works to begin as soon as possible.
Why should locals wait even longer before these much-needed works even begin?
An Albanese Labor Government will get straight to work delivering a better commute for local workers and a better life for working families.
Comments attributable to Labor Candidate for Longman, Rebecca Fanning
‘Why are locals being left in the slow lane when works can get underway even sooner?
‘Under an Albanese Labor Government, I will get straight to work delivering this project now, not years down the line.
‘The Morrison-Joyce Government likes to make big promises, but time and time again our community is left waiting for the projects we need.’
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Catherine King
‘Labor will work closely with the Queensland Government to get projects off the ground as soon as possible.
‘Unlike the Morrison-Joyce Government, which does nothing but pick fights, Labor will work collaboratively on delivering the projects Queenslanders need.’
