An Albanese Labor Government will invest $4.5 million to rebuild the Sebastopol Senior Citizens centre and deliver a new Sebastopol Community Hub.
Sebastopol’s Vickers Street Precinct is the heart of this community, including the Mens Shed, Ballarat Community Health, girl guides, early years learning, senior citizens, St George’s Reserve, Karen Overington playground and splash park.
One of the last pieces of this puzzle is redeveloping the aging Senior Citizens Centre into a modern, accessible building suited to all the community groups that use it.
For the last 45 years, this centre has served the community well, hosting organisations including Sebastopol Senior Citizens, Ballarat Community Health, Ballarat Regional Industries, McCallum and 1st Sebastopol Girl Guides.
But after 45 years, an upgrade is sorely needed.
This project will support all existing user groups, as well as including adaptable rooms suitable for early years learning, maternal and child health and community events.
With the disappointing loss of local banking and postal services, investments like this will ensure that Sebastopol remains a resilient, dynamic and connected community well into the future.
Only an Albanese Labor Government will continue to invest in the important social infrastructure that our Ballarat community needs.
