LAUNCH OF REGIONAL AUSTRALIA COUNCIL 2031

Labor congratulates the Regional Australia Institute and its partners on the launch of the ‘Regional Australia Council 2031’.

RAC2031 has the potential to spur corporate sector collaboration to drive new solutions to regional Australian challenges around jobs, population, liveability and leadership.

Like myself, millions of Australians make the active choice to live in regional Australia because of the many lifestyle and work benefits for them and their families.

There is enormous potential in our regions, but we know we have to work harder to create and keep jobs, and to attract the next waves of investment and opportunity.

With the drought, bushfires and now Covid-19 affecting the livelihoods of so many in our regions, governments and corporate sector must listen to local communities and create unique, local solutions.

I encourage more businesses to join the RAC2031 conversation and look to regional Australia for new opportunities.

I look forward to continuing to work with the Regional Australia Institute and learning of the RAC2031’s ideas and solutions for our regions.
