MORE LIBERAL HEALTH CUTS TO COME

Scott Morrison must come clean with the Australian people and detail what post-election health cuts he is plotting in order to pay for his tax handouts to the top end of town.

Will the revelations today that the Liberals will need to slash spending by $40 billion a year to fund their tax plans lead to more attacks on hospitals and Medicare?

Never forget what happened last time the Liberals said “no cuts to health” right before an election.

Six months later they used their horror 2014 Budget to launch the biggest assault on health funding in living memory.

They tried to cut $57 billion from hospitals.

They tried to force up the cost of seeing a doctor with their GP Tax.

They tried to force up the cost of all prescription medicines, even for pensioners.

They cut $10 billion from other health programs and agencies.

Later that same year they imposed a Medicare rebate freeze that persists to this day, ripping $3 billion from the pockets of patients.

And today they are still persisting with $2.8 billion in public hospital cuts and they are refusing to back Labor’s $2.3 billion Medicare Cancer Plan.

It’s clear now that the only way the Liberals can pay for their tax handouts to the top end of town is by cutting hospitals and schools.

Australians deserve an explanation: where exactly will the axe fall?

This election is a choice between Labor’s plan for better hospitals and better schools versus bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals.

After six years of Liberal cuts and chaos, our united Labor team is ready.
