ESTIMATES EXPOSES GREG HUNT LIED ON LIFE-SAVING VACCINE
Senate Estimates has exposed that the desperate Health Minister will say and promise anything – including lying to parents about a life-saving vaccine that would protect their children.
The Chief Medical Officer knew absolutely nothing about a request to fast track the listing of the meningococcal B vaccine – despite the Minister telling the Sunday Telegraph that “it (was) being considered by the medical officer.”
There is no fast track plan. There is no application before the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee. Misleading parents about the listing of a life-saving vaccine is a new low for a Minister who can’t be trusted on health.
This revelation came on the back of the Department exposing lie after lie from the Minister:
- In September the Minister said the Government was undertaking a review of MRI licenses. [CABOOLTURE HERALD, 7 SEPTEMBER 2017] No such review exists.
- In September the Minister said the Government was looking to implement a transparency model of IVF success rates. [DAILY TELEGRAPH, 13 SEPTEMBER 2017] The Department didn’t know what this was.
- In June the Minister said he wanted a full medical review of Lyme disease. [NORTHERN STAR, 3 JUNE 2017] This isn’t happening.
This Government can’t be trusted with a word they say on health. The Minister will say anything – even if it means lying to parents about a vaccine that could save the lives of their children.
