Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, today welcomed a pair of grants that will see significant repairs and upgrades to local Men’s Sheds in the Ballarat region.
“It’s great to see the importance of our local Men’s Shed network being recognised with almost $10,000 for repairs and upgrades to Ballarat and Creswick’s sheds.
“This money will see building maintenance, repairs and the installation of kitchen facilities go ahead, making the sheds just a little more welcoming.
“Creswick will also get much needed work done on their roof – removing rusted iron framework and damaged timber roofing being fully replaced.”
“Men’s sheds are really important for many communities across our region. Creswick is no exception, and with multiple sites across Ballarat the need for these services is obvious,” Ms King said.
“All these sheds provide a place where men can come together, make social connections and maintain an active body and mind.
“I am really pleased to see these sheds gaining recognition and support from across the community.”
The two grants have been awarded under the National Shed Development Programme, and are administered by the Australian Men’s Shed Association.
