The injection of 600 new State Government jobs into Ballarat- both through relocated and newly created positions – has been welcomed by Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King.
Ms King was referring to a State Budget announcement today which includes investment of more than $45 million in a State Government administration hub associated with the Civic Hall site.
Ms King said the development and injection of the jobs is a creative proposal which will reinvigorate the city’s CBD and the wider region.
“These are the progressive measures strong Labor Government’s always take in the interests of important communities like ours,” Ms King said.
“This will turn the city centre into a real hub of Government decision making. It will also generate a greater social and economic impetus for all of us who use the city centre, work in it or operate businesses.
“More broadly, the injection of so many more jobs will continue the strong growth our city and region is experiencing.”
Ms King said the Andrew’s Government has given in depth consideration to the best way to inject Government jobs in the interests of the people of the region.
“I congratulate the Government for its continuing determination to invest in regional Victoria. Ballarat and region is an obvious beneficiary of this through this innovative development.”
