Meeting room facilities at the Elaine CFA will be upgraded with the help of funding confirmed today by the Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King.
Ms King said funding of $5,337 under Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Programme will enable the Elaine Fire Brigade to complete a fit out of its meeting room projected to cost $10,675.
“The project’s plan is to upgrade the current state of the brigade’s utilities to meet the needs of the community in the 21st century,” Ms King said.
“There will be new tables and chairs and general room furniture, kitchen appliances such as a refrigerator and microwave, an office computer along with catering equipment for functions, including cutlery, crockery and cookware.
“Brigades such as this one at Elaine are the centre of the community. They offer a core service through their outstanding protection of the community in time of fire, but also provide an important facility for the wider community.
“There are now more than 100 CFA members here at Elaine and a strong junior contingent to ensure a viable long-term future.
“Well done to the brigade and all its members and I am sure these new amenities will serve you all well in the months and years ahead,” Ms King said.
