Shadow Minister for Disability Reform, Jenny Macklin and Member for Ballarat, Catherine King tody visited Karden Disability Services in Ballarat to celebrate the continued rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as part of Carers Week.
The great news for people with disability, their families and carers in Ballarat is that the NDIS is coming from 1 January 2017.
For people with disability the NDIS will give them choice and control over how, when and where supports are provided, and for the first time give them certainty that they will receive support over their lifetime.
This week we also celebrate National Carers Week.
Carers make an enormous contribution to our communities, their care and dedication to people with disability is something we should all celebrate.
But for too long disability services have let down Australians with disability and their carers.
That’s exactly why Labor created the NDIS – to put an end to the fractured system of the past.
Over 105,000 Victorians will benefit from the NDIS by 2019.

Carers, families and people with disabilities in our community can now look forward to getting the support, and the certainty they deserve to live the life they choose.
When fully rolled out around Australia around 460,000 people with disability will get the care and support they need as part of the NDIS.
