Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King today welcomed the announcement that the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse would return to Ballarat in 2016.
“It is heartening to see the Royal Commission listening to abuse survivors and the Ballarat community.
“The original decision to move the commission to Melbourne caused significant distress to those who needed to attend.
“Now that it will return to Ballarat those survivors can rest assured their stories will be heard. They deserve no less.
“It has also been wonderful to see the response of our local community, who rallied behind survivors. It is their support that will make all the difference.”
