Federal Labor congratulates the Palaszczuk Government for its record $14.2 billion investment in Queensland’s health system.
The Palaszczuk Government’s decision to invest in frontline health services is a welcome change from the years of attacks on the health budget under Coalition governments in Queensland and Canberra.
Despite massive cuts to state health budgets by the Abbott Government, the Palaszczuk Government has shown its commitment to health by using its first Budget to upgrade regional hospitals and invest record amounts in health and ambulance services.
In stark contrast to the Newman Government’s massive cuts, the Palaszczuk Government is employing more nurses and midwives, taking real action to reduce waiting lists and investing in preventative health.
In its very first Budget the Palaszczuk Government has demonstrated its commitment to health, and starkly highlighted the difference between the Coalition’s attempts to destroy universal health care and Labor’s commitment to affordable decent health care for all Australians.
