MOTORISTS IN BALLARAT HIT WITH SNEAKY PETROL TAX INCREASE

,^^^,

From today every Ballarat motorist will pay more for petrol because of Tony Abbott’s new $2.2 billion petrol tax, Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King said.

“This marks yet another broken promise by the Liberal government. Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey promised no new taxes before the last election, and now families and businesses across regional areas like Ballarat are going to bear the brunt of this sneaky increase.

“Joe Hockey hasn’t considered the impact this increase will have on regional Australians, with less public transport, further to travel and bigger petrol bills.

“For people in Ballarat already doing it tough, this thoughtless increase to the cost of living will do significant damage.”

The Abbott Government snuck this tax hike through, bypassing Parliament to ensure the petrol tax goes up and up and up.

The indexation of the petrol tax to CPI by the Abbott Government means Australians will pay around $19 billion more for petrol over the next decade.

Within the next five years, the average Australian will be paying an extra $135 for petrol every single year because of this new tax from Tony Abbott.

Australians are already struggling to deal with the rising cost of living – the last thing they need is to pay more tax every time they fill up the car.
