EVEN YOUR OWN MPS THINK YOUR GP TAX STINKS MR ABBOTT

The massive splits erupting within the Coalition over the GP Tax show even Tony Abbott’s MPs now realise the tax is a deeply unfair attack on Australia’s health care system and must be axed.

Queensland Liberal National MP George Christensen says he has been getting “overwhelming” feedback from his voters and now wants the tax axed for Pensioners.

Senator Ian Macdonald has told Fairfax the tax is “very unpopular” with the Coalition’s “traditional voters” and “must be reviewed”.

Only MPs completely out of touch with their electorates would have taken three months to realise this, but Labor welcomes their long overdue discovery that voters hate the GP Tax and want it scrapped.

But simply amending the tax for pensioners is not enough.  It must be scrapped.  Families, low income earners and all those Australians who rely on bulk billing must be spared this deeply unfair, regressive and outrageous attack on decent, affordable health care.

Listen to your own MPs Mr Abbott. The GP Tax stinks, and should be axed.
