Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King today celebrated opening of the new Ballarat Community Health primary care facility in Lucas.
“I’m pleased to be here today to celebrate the opening of this brand new world-class facility which will enable people from the expanding Lucas community and surrounds to access primary health services closer to home,” Ms King said.
“Ballarat Community Health, Lucas offers a wide variety of services that aim to boost and promote community health all under one roof.
“This includes clinical services, health promotion, alcohol and other drug support, mental health, counselling and youth services.
“Patients can also utilise the centre’s gymnasium or just relax and enjoy the atrium and inside garden.
“I was delighted to be able to announce $11.6 million from the former Federal Labor Government to fund this project in partnership with Ballarat Community Health, who provided the balance to purchase the land.
“Now we stand here today with a first-class health service ready to provide important primary health care to the local community and I wish Ballarat Community Health every success into the future.
“I’d also like to congratulate Nicholson Construction for building this centre with local labour and I acknowledge the particular expertise and skill of our local construction workers in delivering this fantastic facility.
“Labor left a proud record in Government of improving access to essential health services for people in regional and rural Australia – reducing the gap in service availability and patient outcomes between the cities and the regions.”
