,^^^,
I am honoured to have been appointed to the Federal Cabinet and am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
This chance to continue to apply my passion for regional Australia to national policy development up to and beyond the coming election is one I am really looking forward to.
I am committed to regional Australia and the great region I live in. I love living here and I love learning about it and contributing to it every day.
I also love getting out among the communities in this region and others around the nation and seeing the fantastic things that can be achieved.
It is great to now be in a position to help support those local initiatives by playing a leading role in the development of national regional, local government and territories policy.
My experience during the past three years, firstly as a Parliamentary Secretary and later as Minister for Regional Services, Local Communities and Territories in the outer ministry have been a valuable preparation for this new challenge.
I also look forward to working closely with my colleagues to advance the great reforms of this Labor Government and fight to prevent Tony Abbott and his Liberals from winning office and dismantling them.
The people of Ballarat and region have placed their confidence in me and I intend to continue to repay that in the months and years ahead.
Again, I want to thank my family for their love, care and support.
