Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, today welcomed the start on a $3.3 million project to expand Ballan’s GP Super Clinic.
Funding for the project was announced in last year’s Federal Budget.
“The Gillard Government is committed to helping Australians gain improved access to quality health care where they need it, when they need it,” Ms King said.
“We know this funding will go a long way to help to meet the current and future demand for health services in Ballan and I am delighted to see the work underway.
“The project will see the expansion of medical, preventive health and chronic care services in the region and it is a big win for the people of Ballan.
“Not only will this mean better care, but the improved facility will mean more health professionals are attracted to our area.
“The funding will provide additional consulting and treatment rooms, rehabilitation facilities, a hydrotherapy pool, educational facilities and space for additional staff,” Ms King said.
Ballan and District Health Services successfully applied for funding from the Government’s Health and Hospitals Fund (HHF).
The applications were assessed by the independent HHF Advisory Board.
