Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, today urged interested groups to quickly get their applications in for Community Landcare Grants under the Federal Government’s Caring for Our Country program to ensure they meet the deadline of next Wednesday at 5 pm.
Ms King said the Community Landcare Grants are small grants available through the Sustainable Agriculture stream of the Caring for our Country initiative.
“Grants between $5,000 and $50,000 (GST exclusive) are available to help local community-based organisations and groups take on-ground action as well as build their capacity and skills to manage their natural environment and productive lands,” Ms King said.
“Grants funding can be used for demonstrating, trialing and adopting cropping, grazing and other farming practices that improve soil condition and reduce wind and water erosion.
“Applications are open now, but the deadline is fast approaching.
“I would strongly urge any organisation across Ballarat and region with a project that may be eligible, no matter how big or small, to quickly finalise an application and get it in.”
For more information on where and how to submit your application please visit the Caring for Our Country website at: http://www.nrm.gov.au/funding/agriculture/clg/index.html.
Applications close at 5:00pm (EST) on 20 March 2013.
