An analysis by the Federal Department of Health and Ageing of Victoria’s budget exposes Ted Baillieu and the Liberal Government as ripping $15.2 million from Ballarat Health Services.
“Premier Ted Baillieu tries to blame the Federal Government when it is clear now that all he is doing is doing is covering up for his own Government’s drastic budgetary shortcomings,” Ms King said.
“These legitimate figures show just how tough Mr Baillieu and his health cuts are on the entire Ballarat and region community.
“Imagine the quality of service delivery Ballarat Health Services would be able to provide if it was not $15.2 million worse off at the hands of the Baillieu Government?
“There could be more beds, more nurses and more elective surgeries if this $15.2 million was not slashed.
“Mr Baillieu and his Liberals have to stop playing politics with the health of our community, stop pointing the finger at the Federal Government and reverse these heartless cuts.”
The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing analysis of the Victorian Government’s budget papers – using the same formula Mr Baillieu used to blame the Federal Government – determined the impact of his health cuts on each health service in the State.
By contrast, Federal funding for Victoria’s health system – including Ballarat Health Services – will grow by $900m over the next four years.
