Tony Abbott has acknowledged the complete failure of his government’s record on health by removing his minister for health.
However, his new minister will be just as much a failure as her predecessor if she does not immediately dump the disastrous GP Tax.
Minister Ley has been handed a poisoned chalice by her predecessor with the medical profession in open revolt at the Government’s litany of deceit and lies on health and a minister who had shut his door to the health sector.
A government which came to office promising no cuts to health and no new taxes, immediately commenced gutting the health sector, cutting over $50 billion from public hospitals and hitting patients with a tax every time they went to the doctor.
Minister Ley must now show she is determined not to repeat the failures of her predecessor by listening to Labor and just about every health expert and professional and immediately dump the GP Tax.
The GP Tax is bad for patients, bad for health care and bad for the Budget and unless Minister Ley dumps the GP Tax, she will confirm that like her predecessor, she is not serious about health care and will fail.
