Today’s official opening of Labor’s expansion of the Ballan GP Super clinic delivers high quality health care and facilities for the Ballan community, Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, said today.
The $3.3 million expansion approved by the former Federal Labor Government has delivered additional consulting and treatment rooms, rehabilitation facilities, a hydrotherapy pool, educational facilities and space for additional staff.
Today’s opening takes to $4.7 million the total funding invested in the facility by Labor, with another $900,000 raised by the Ballan community.
“This is a great day for Ballan and another important milestone in the 50 year history of this great local health service, Ms King said today.
“This facility will go a long way towards meeting the current and future demand for health services in Ballan and I am delighted to see the work completed.
“The project will see the expansion of medical, preventive health and chronic care services in the region and it is a big win for the people of Ballan.
“Not only will this mean better care, but the improved facility will mean more health professionals are attracted to our area.”
Ballan and District Health Services successfully applied for funding from the former Labor Government’s Health and Hospitals Fund (HHF).
The applications were assessed by the independent HHF Advisory Board.
