YOUR CHANCE TO ASSIST OUR REGION’S DEVELOPMENT
Monday, 6 February 2012
Community volunteers with a keen interest in the future of Ballarat and region have been urged to put their names forward to participate on the next Grampians Regional Development Australia Committee.
Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, who is also Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development in Victoria, said today that Individuals with community, industry or government experience and knowledge of local challenges would be well placed to represent on the local RDA committee.
“I wish to congratulate those members of the existing RDA Committee who are retiring and thank them for their fine work and advice to Government during the period of their tenure,” Ms King said.
“We are now looking to renew the committee membership to provide further top quality input and commitment to ensuring the development which occurs around our region is the best it can be.
“The input of RDA Committee members helps Government better respond to the challenges and opportunities different regions face.
“A strong RDA Committee engages with local communities to maximise economic growth, flexibility, diversity and resilience.
“We are looking for individuals with vision and drive – people who can use their experience, skills and local regional knowledge to build relationships between all levels of government and regional communities.”
People of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit an expression of interest, which will be considered against the skills and expertise required by RDA committees.
Previous applicants and existing members whose terms are expiring are also encouraged to submit a new expression of interest.
RDA is an Australian Government initiative which is jointly funded by State and Territory Governments and local governments in some jurisdictions.
