Project Description
The $2.3 million Ballan GP Super Clinic accommodates privately practicing GPs, practice nurses, visiting specialists, and a range of allied health services such as physiotherapy, dietetics and nutrition, podiatry, mental health services, pathology and chronic disease management facilities, as well as Ballan’s first dental service.
Benefits
Australia’s first fully operational GP Super Clinic has improved health services in Ballan, allowing healthcare professionals to work in multidisciplinary teams to provide more integrated care to meet the health needs and priorities of the Ballan community. The clinic has helped reduce waiting lists andhas eliminated the need for Ballan residents to travel to Ballarat for a range of health care.
It has also improved access for the aged and people with disabilities.
Funding
The Labor Government provided $1.4 million towards the clinic with the local community contributing the remaining $900,000.
