Eureka Centre

The redevelopment of the Eureka Centre will enable the story of the 1854 uprising to be told in a more engaging manner, attracting visitors from across Australia and internationally.

Project Description

Grants from the State and Federal governments totalling $10 million will fund the redevelopment of the existing centre. The Eureka Centre will be renamed the Australian Centre for Democracy at Eureka, and will tell the story of the 1854 Eureka uprising.

The Eureka Centre will feature innovative and cutting edge exhibits and installations which will be specially designed to tell the Eureka story in an engaging way. The new Australian Centre for Democracy will enhance Ballarat's profile as the birthplace of Australian democracy.

Funding

The Labor Government contributed $5,000,000 to this project.

Timetable
 
Work has started and is on track to be completed at the end of 2011.
