Ballarat and region’s young, up and coming creative stars who are keen to take advantage of a new Federal Government funding program are urged to get their applications in by this Friday.
Applications for the first round of the Creative Young Stars Program opened on June 1 and will close at 5 pm this Friday, June 21.
Under the program, each Federal electorate in Australia will have 23 grants of $500 and four grants of $3000 available each financial year over two application rounds.
Those eligible are individuals under 25 years old at the time of completing the application form and groups where each member of the group is 25 years or under.
Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, said the Creative Young Stars Program will encourage, support and celebrate creative, cultural, academic and community achievement throughout Australia by students and young people.
“The program will assist school students, and where appropriate their families, and post-school young people who need financial assistance to participate in activities, events or training in creative and performing arts, cultural activities, academic endeavour. It will reward school and community achievement in the area of creative endeavour,” Ms King said.
The $8 million Creative Young Stars Program was announced on 13 March 2013 in the National Cultural Policy Creative Australia.
The Office for the Arts and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) will work together to facilitate the delivery of this Program. DEEWR will administer the initiative.
